Match details
England trained at Bemmel on Wednesday morning and Coach Stuart Pearce was pleased to see Anton Ferdinand back on the field.
The West Ham United defender missed out on Monday’s match with a slight groin problem, but has been doing separate session in the gym to get back to fitness.
Though he didn’t take part in the main session, he and physio Dave Galley took a jog around the pitch and did a few ball drills leaving Pearce hopeful that he will be in contention for the Italy game on Thursday evening.
“Anton didn’t join in training today, but we’re still hopeful that he’ll be available tomorrow. He’s working with the physios, he was at the training ground and he’s on the move, so fingers crossed,” said Pearce.
Meanwhile, after a warm up, the rest of the players took part in some shooting exercises, watched by a group of boys from Hartbury College football team, who had been given the opportunity to see England train while on a tour of Holland.
On Thursday the squad were over at Bemmel again for their final pre-match session ahead of tonight's game, which is once more at the Gelredome in Arnhem, kick off 7.45pm BST
