England defender Steven Taylor believes that the Three Lions have the ability to go all the way and win the UEFA European U21 Championship, which kicks off in Holland next week.

Stuart Pearce's side open with a tricky encounter against the Czech Republic on Monday evening, but Taylor says that the team fears no one.

Their final preparation game sees England take on Slovakia in Norwich on Tuesday night and Taylor will be making sure the side travels to Holland with a clean sheet under their belt.

"The quality that is in the squad is fantastic," he said. "I think a lot of people will be fearing us. You speak to everyone in the squad, they don't fear anybody. There's no point playing if you fear anyone."

He continued: "We've got that winning attitude and belief and hopefully that'll be one of the main things that helps us do well in the European Championship.

"There's no reason why we can't win it. We're capable of doing it and it's up to us to show the potential that we have."

Following a sending off in the second leg of the play-off against Germany in October, Taylor will be suspended for the opening game, but is keen to make sure he keeps himself in the frame with a positive performance at Carrow Road.

And after featuring in the England B Team game against Albania ten days ago, the Newcastle United man is desperate for more international honours

"It's made me more hungry. Just getting that taste, 25 minutes, was the best thing that's ever happened to me," he said.

"When I got the call I thought someone was winding me up, but it was fantastic to get that opportunity.

"One day I'd like to be playing in the [senior] side, but at the moment there's that much quality in the side you've got to wait your time. When that time does come along you hope you get your chance and take it."

He added: "Against Slovakia will be a difficult game, but we want to put in a good performance. Everyone's got to get their fitness sorted out, but we feel confident in doing well so we'll be looking to get a result to get us on the track for the European Championship.

"Clean sheets is on my mind and it's important tomorrow to get a good performance and get in the manager's plans for the Finals."
