After a frustrating period on the sidelines after a cruciate ligament injury, Everton and England goalkeeper Rachel Brown is nearing a comeback.

"Things are going pretty smoothly and I've not had any reaction since my last surgery", she said.

Last week she experienced life as a coach, accompanying Jane Ebbage and Lois Fidler with the England U17 as Goalkeeping Coach at an international tournament in the Republic of Ireland, passing on her experience to some of the country's up and coming 'keepers, as well as stepping up her rehabilitation.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I now appreciate far more the hours that the coaches put in when we are away. I also did a bit of scouting as well so it was a really interesting exercise which I definitely learnt from."

With England games against Scotland, Norway and the Czech Republic before the Women's Euro 2005 kick-off, as well as The FA Women's Cup Final against Charlton Athletic on 02 May.

"We really feel that with the preparation and fitness programmes we now have in place that we're beginning to catch up with the likes of the US, and every player in the squad is really looking forward to the start of the 'Euros' and focusing on the first game."

Rachel was speaking to TheFA.com to give the latest on her progress, and to issue a rallying call to football fans across the country to get behind the team in June.
