England Head Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson and Sports Minister Richard Caborn MP are the special guests at the City of Manchester Stadium on Wednesday 19 January to make the Final Draw for the 2005 UEFA European Women’s Championship.
They will be joined by UEFA Chief Executive Lars-Christer Olsson and FA Chairman Geoff Thompson.
The eight participating nations are England, Denmark, Finland, France, titleholders Germany, Italy, Norway and Sweden, and they will all be playing for a new trophy, which will also be unveiled on 19 January.
The eight-team tournament will be staged in England from 05 to 19 June 2005 at five venues in the North West.
The City of Manchester Stadium will host the opening England game on Sunday 05 June. The other Group A matches will be played at Ewood Park, home to Blackburn Rovers, and at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool.
Preston North End’s Deepdale ground and Warrington Wolves’ newly built Halliwell Jones Stadium will host the Group B games and will each stage one Semi-Final.
The Final Draw will commence at 1.45pm on Wednesday in the Commonwealth Suite of the East Stand, and will be followed by a press conference with representatives of each competing country, including England Women’s Head Coach Hope Powell and Arsenal Ladies and England Captain, Faye White.
