Scholes has been a fixture in the England side since just before the 1998 World Cup and, now with 63 caps to his name, is considered by many to be one of the most skilfull players in the England squad.

"Almost every team in Europe still wants Paul Scholes because he is one of the best players you can have," Tord told TheFA.com

"I think when he is in form he is one of the best midfield players. He has been unfortunate not to score goals from the national team recently but I hope it will come in the European Championship.

"His technique in shooting in extraordinary - one of the best."

Scholes filled in on the problematic left-side for England in Sunday's match with France and Grip felt he did well in the role.

"I have seen him play there [on the left] a lot of times for Manchester [United], so he is not uncomfortable in that position.

"It is a good position for him."
