England Head Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson says that his team must be compact against Portugal as they begin their preparations for the quarter-final tie with the hosts.
Speaking exclusively to
TheFA.com for
England TV, Sven was very pleased that England progressed from Group B with two wins out of three and, after no football for his team on Tuesday, he now turns his attention towards the Portuguese tomorrow night.
"It's good to be in the Quarter-final and I'm very happy," he says. "I hope we are ready with just two days recovery."
"I have a lot of respect for Portugal, but we have a good team so I hope we can win the game."
Sven will go through his game-plan with the players this afternoon:
"We had nothing yesterday, no football talk. We'll talk about Portugal and have a tactical session in the stadium."
He adds: "We have to be compact, and we'll say this many times, it's very important.
"We can't give away too much space to Figo, Ronaldo, Deco. All three are very good football players. One against one they are all extremely good players."
The Swede comes head to head once again with Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, who was in the opposite dug-out when England lost in the quarter-final of the World Cup two years ago.
"If life is fair, it's once for him and once more me," he jokes.
"I think we can win but we know Portugal are a very good team."
