ENGLAND TV: England's 18-year-old striker Wayne Rooney was one of the best players on the pitch in Sunday's defeat to France.
Rooney won England a second-half penalty as he caused havoc within the French defence.
For such a young man, the manner of the Three Lions' defeat could come as a blow but Rooney is determined to look ahead to this afternoon's match.
"It was a good game, England as a team played well. I think I had a good game myself, but as I say if you look back in times to come, its going to be looked at as a defeat," said Rooney.
"I think there are a lot of positives to be taken from the game but I think we deserved at least a point.
"I was a bit shocked at first as I couldn’t believe what had happened but we have just got to get on with it.
"We were all just sitting there, the dressing room was quiet, no one could believe what had happened but Sven picked us up because we [now] have a big game [against Switzerland]."
Rooney has taken to international football with remarkable speed and is thoroughly enjoying his first experience of a major international tournament.
"It’s brilliant being here amongst all the top players in Europe, its brilliant experience for myself, being such a young age and I think it can only benefit my game," the Everton striker said.
"I think, everyone as soon as we got here wanted the game to come as quickly as possible, and it did drag a bit waiting for the game to come, but when it came we were all ready for it.
If Rooney were to score his sixth England goal in today's match against Switzerland he would become the youngest player to score in a European Championship.
"Looking back in years to come it will be a big thing but I think I just want to go and win the game with England and not really concentrate on that one thing. I just want to win the game I don’t care who scores.
"I think we’re confident. I think we did well Sunday and I think if we take our game from there we should have no problems."
