The Chelsea defender hasn't trained properly all week, and after a 20 minute session with the rest of the squad this morning, he will not be risked with at least two more important matches to follow.

Head Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson said: "Probably he will not be fit for Sunday but we are sure he will be fit for Thursday.

"He trained a little bit with us and did some fitness work and he'll train again with us tomorrow, but it's too short time and we think it's dangerous to risk him.

"It's a pity he is injured - we all know what a season he's had for Chelsea.

"But that's life and we hope he'll be okay for the second game, we're almost sure he'll be ready for it."

Sven is also keeping tight-lipped over who will replace Terry and would not say whether it would be Jamie Carragher or Ledley King to come in: "They are both in good shape and have done well in practice sessions and the games they played."
