Campbell is in great form having enjoyed a wonderful season with Arsenal and one of the key match-ups of Sunday's game will see him come fac-to-face with his Highbury colleague Thierry Henry.

Q: With Jamie Carragher and Ledley King on standby if John Terry is injured, is there more pressure on you?

A: "I think those lads, Jamie and Ledley, are fantastic players. They can hold their own in this international kind of circus. They're great players, and shouldn't be a problem.

"Jamie's played against top centre-forwards and has had a great season."

Q: You could be the first England man to play in five major tournaments – from Euro 96 onwards – how does that feel?

A: "It’s fantastic for me. The more tournaments I get for England, the more experience I get. The mainn thing is you got to learn and progress.

Q: What do you think of England's chances?

A: "We're in good shape. Obviously France are a fantastic team, but we got some great players, world-class players, in our side as well. It's going to be a great challenge out there.

Q: What about your head-to-head with Thierry Henry on Sunday?

A: "All over the pitch there are match ups. There is Lampard and Makelele, Becks versus Zidane. Obviously with Ashley and Pires, me and Thierry as well – it’s all over the pitch.

"Thierry is a fantastic, phenomenal player who's had a great season. He's terrorised a lot of defences, so it's going to be a great challenge. As an England side, we just need to match the French really on the day."

Q: What do you make of the training facilities and hotel in Lisbon?

A:
"The pitch is nice, a little bit soft underneath, but there's a lot of grass over it. It's good and the facilities are fantastic. The hotel is tremendous, secure. The staff are fantastic, so it's good."

Q: If England beat the French, will that send out message to Europe?

A: "Of course it does, but I think the main thing is you want to concentrate on that game and then put the effort back.

"You got to bounce it out, you don't want put all your energy and all your mental energy into one game and then you still got another two games to go.

"You don't want to deep freeze them, you want to build a good foundation. Start on a good note, and keep on climbing and go up and up as the competition goes along.

Q: Is the pressure all on the French?

A: "They are the favourites, but I'm sure they can handle that. They got some great individuals, but a little bit pressure on them. We believe we can win."
