The track, 'Alltogethernow', was released this week and will be performed by lead singer Hooton and the rest of The Farm before the friendly international against Iceland on Saturday.

The song was chosen as part of the FA's 'Alltogethernow' campaign which focuses on continuing England's fantastic support in recent years.

And Hooton believes the performance at the City of Manchester Stadium will provide the perfect send-off as fans and players alike prepare for the trip to Portugal.

Hooton said: "The song was released on Monday and we've had good feedback so far.

"All the promotion will take place this weekend when we sing the theme before the England match - and then we're going to Channel 4's Pop Beach on Sunday when around 2 million people are going to be watching.

"It's going to be the big finale and we're going to have all the other bands on stage so that should be good.

"Three Lions was obviously a big success back in 1996 but it didn't really take off until after the second match. We hope this single can do just as well as that and go into the top ten. 'Alltogethernow' appeals to all age groups from kids to pensioners and it has a real message to it which is great.

"It's a brave decision by the FA to choose this song but it is part of the whole message we are trying to put across to fans this summer.

"It is a positive song which shows that anyone can support the national team no matter of creed or colour.

"In Liverpool now there are more people than ever wearing England shirts and flags. The whole country feels more a part of the national team than ever before and that is great."

Hooton will fly out to Lisbon next week to cheer on England and see some of his Liverpool heroes.

The Scouser is a season ticket holder at Anfield and can't wait for the chance to watch Sven's boys in action.

And he is confident England can do the nation proud by going all the way in the tournament.

He added: "I'm going out to Portugal to see some of the matches and I'm really looking forward to it. I'd like to see Steven Gerrard moved back into the middle, though, because he is our most important player and needs to influence the game more.

"We have definitely got the quality to go all the way - but I think that the European Championships are even more difficult to win than the World Cup because of the quality of all teams."
