England Women's U23 team made a slow start to their second training game against the USA, with the visiting players first to almost everything.

However, after the first quarter of an hour England finally switched on. Kim Dixson slid a great ball in behind the US defence and found Ellen White striding clear. After entering the 18-yard area, she applied a cool finish to find the bottom left corner.

England took their foot off the gas again and failed to take hold of the game and build on their lead. A goalkeeping error late on in the half planted the ball at the feet of the US number 10, who fired a clean, low shot home.

With England not showing enough urgency, the USA had a couple more chances but none were converted.

Into the second half, England needed to be quicker to react all over the field. However, just five minutes in a loose ball in the England area was struck goalbound, and with the defence attempting in vain to block, USA took the lead.

With England now chasing the game it became a little scrappy.

The USA's third came from a corner taken to the backpost which was met by a towering header. England had it all to do but began creating chances with their more frantic play.

For the third time in the game, Ellen White found space behind the US back-line, but coming in on her unfavoured left foot she was unable to test the keeper. Finally, in the dying minutes, Rachel Williams let fly with a decent effort which crept just past the post.
