England 5-0 Bulgaria

First Stage Qualifying Tournament

England's Under 19 Women's side all but secured their place in the European Championship second qualifying stage this afternoon with a convincing 5-0 win over Bulgaria.

The Three Lions were dealt a blow prior to kick off with the news that two of their most experienced players, Fara Williams and Katy Ward were both missing (knee ligaments and illness respectively). However, once the game began, England took charge of the match and three points never seriously looked in doubt

Kim Holden hit the first of her brace on the 18th minute, but the advantage wasn't increased until after the break.

On the 46th minute, Josanne Potter made it two, and ninety seconds later she'd scored her second and England's third. Georgie Adams weighed in with the fourth on seventy-three before Holden rounded off England's comfortable win 15 minutes from time.

Mo Marley's side now top their group and one point from their final game against the Faroe Islands on Sunday, or a favourable result from the Faroe's match with Lithuania today, would send them through to the second phase.

England Team; Rachelle Houldsworth, Faye Cardin, Georgie Adams, Anita Asante, Shelly Cox, Sheuneen Ta, Kelly McDougall (c), Alex Scott, Josanne Potter, Kim Holden, Jodie McGuckin
