England overcome the disappointment of defeat and prepare for Japan.
On the day of our second match we had a bit of a lie, with our wake-up call not coming until 9.30am. All the girls met in reception and headed to breakfast.
Afterwards, we went to the local park for ‘Walk and Stretch’. This is our matchday routine, where we go for a walk to stretch our legs and go over the some of our tactics for the game.
A light snack at 12pm to keep us going until the pre-match meal and then we had some time to kill before we departed for the game. It’s always best to keep ourselves busy, and Jordan [Nobbs], Dan [Carter] and Abbie [Prosser] kept their minds busy playing scrabble, whilst others watched films and read books.
Before we knew it, it was time for the pre-match team meeting and off to the stadium to play Mexico.
Despite the outcome, we felt that the performance was an improvement from the first game but still we were disappointed with the result.
The following day we received a 6.15am wake-up call and were off to Munich airport to fly to Bielefeld. The journey was longer than expected and everyone was very tired by the time we got to the hotel.
We dropped of our bags in our rooms and went straight for some lunch, then had the rest of the day for recovery, treatments and relaxing.
After a lie in the following morning we had some more time to relax and get used to our new hotel. It’s a bit weird after being in the Augsburg hotel for two weeks to now move to a different one.
But the hotel has everything we need and everyone seems to be settling in well…apart from Kez [Harrop] that is, whose bag was lost on the flight.
She's had to rely on her team-mates (Chelsea [Weston], Gemma [Bonner] and even Nay Datson) for a few things in the meantime. Luckily we always carry our boots in our hand luggage!
In the afternoon we went training at the same time as our next kick-off. We did some technical play, working goal-to-goal, some crossing and finishing, and then some more specific work on the game stategy.
All in all, a good day and even a bit of fun in the evening as Chelsea, Jade [Moore] and Izzy [Christiansen] made a great quiz for all of the players and staff to enjoy.
Game three is approaching…
