Women's U20s get down to business at their World Cup camp.

The early wakeup call is instilled so we can help our body clocks adjust, ready for the 11:30am kick-off for our first game on the 14th.

We set out for training at around 10am, where we played some small-sided games and worked on our attacking play. Even Kylie the physio was keen to join in where she gave Toni [Duggan] a physical contest at up front!

Same again that afternoon, some more small-sided play then onto a bigger picture, we all got a chance to get a feel for the much talked about Jabulani ball, and set our standards for the tournament.

A shooting game at the end is always popular with the squad, and extra points for teams if we scored a diving header or bicycle kick meant the three teams got rather competitive – Dan Carter scoring a spectacular bicycle kick, made her the ‘special child’. This was fun and a good laugh but still practising our quick-fire shooting from different angles.

That night we had a team meeting and discussed the positives of the day’s sessions, and where we can improve. It was followed by the night off to watch the World Cup match between Germany and Spain.

Toni and Izzy [Christiansen] decided to 'over celebrate' the Spanish victory, making them slightly unpopular with the hotel staff!

After a busy day, the team morale is feeling good and on track.
