Spain beat England 4-0 in second Group B match in Turkey
2009 winners England failed to progress from the group stage of this year’s UEFA European Women’s U19 Championship Finals after losing 4-0 to Spain.
Mo Marley’s young charges came into the game needing a win to keep alive their hopes of reaching the semi-final, but they were blown away by three first-half goals from the Spanish.
Captain Alexia Putellas gave Spain the lead on 17 minutes and Amanda Sampedro doubled the advantage just before the half-hour mark, while Virginia Torrecilla made it 3-0 in added time at the end of the 45.
Torrecilla bagged her second of the night on 69 minutes to complete the scoring and secure Spain’s place in the last four. They will be joined by Sweden, 1-0 victors over England on Monday, after the Scandinavians defeated Serbia 5-1.
