Euro preparations begin in earnest

Tuesday, 22 November, 2011

England ready for tough encounter with France on Tuesday evening.

Mo Marley is currently preparing her England Women’s U19 side for their first match of the season, against France in the Netherlands.

The Young Lionesses would ordinarily be required to compete in the First Qualifying Round of the European Championship in October, but their recent impressive record in the competition - they won their maiden title in 2009 and were runners-up in both 2007 and 2010 - meant they received a bye to the second, and final, round of qualifiers, which will be staged in England next spring.

England will entertain Austria, Finland and Wales in March and April 2012 and Tuesday’s game against France, who also received a bye, and Thursday’s game against the Dutch will be essential preparation for Marley’s charges as they aim to make it through to the Euro Finals once more.

You will be able to find out how the team fare right here on TheFA.com.
