Young Lions secure victory over Croatia in Euro qualifiers.
The England Women’s U19 team got their European Championship Second Qualifying Round campaign off to the perfect start with a 3-0 victory over host nation Croatia on Thursday afternoon.
Chelsea’s Drew Spence fired the Young Lions ahead in the 17th minute, a lead Nikita Parris doubled just before the break and Paige Eli completed the scoring just before the hour-mark.
Mo Marley led the U19s to European glory in Belarus in 2009 and they were runners-up to France in Macedonia last season. One more qualifying victory over Portugal on Saturday would leave them nicely placed to book a place in this year’s Finals, which are to be held in Italy.
