U19 skipper to receive funding from ICAP scholarship programme.

England Women’s U19 captain Jordan Nobbs is among the 21 talented young athletes who will be supported by the ICAP scholarship programme, in conjunction with the Youth Sport Trust.

Nobbs, who scored in the U19 Euro Final two years ago, was nominated for the programme by The FA and she will receive funding from ICAP to cover essential training costs such as equipment and medical support.

The remaining 20 scholars range from volleyball players and wheelchair basketballers to freestyle skiers and track cyclists.

Olympic silver medallist rower Guin Batten, who now works for the Youth Sport Trust, said: “Supporting young athletes to cope with the demands of their sport and schooling is critically important in helping them to achieve their potential in life and we are proud to be working with ICAP to do this."

Former Beckwith Scholar Harry Aikenes-Aryeety is a current Great Britain athlete and was a member of the men’s 2008 Olympic Games 4x100m relay squad. Harry said: “The financial backing provided has enabled me to take huge strides towards achieving my goals and ambition to become the best I can be as an elite athlete.”
