On Thursday, Mo Marley’s England Women’s U19 team will play their final game of the First Qualifying Round for next year's European Championship and they will be looking to maintain their 100 per cent record against their opponents, Norway.

With qualification to the Elite Qualifying Round sealed, the pressure will be off the reigning European Champions as they face a tough test against a Norway side who have notched 17 goals in their last two games.

England, though, have been impressive themselves so far and their 3-1 victory over Slovakia on Monday saw an improved performance from their opening game in the campaign, against Belarus.

Head Coach, Mo Marley, had been pleased with the application and effort from her players and wants that to continue against the Norwegians.

“We had objectives at the start of the tournament and we have ticked all the right boxes so far,” she said. “I would like to think we are going to tick even more boxes in the Norway game.

“Obviously it's going to be against tough opposition. They have lots of quality in the team but so we do we. It is a big occasion and we have a proud record to keep. We don’t want to be beat, ever. It's important we install that winning mentality into the team.”

And with qualification from the group sealed, Marley may be tempted to give other members of the squad an opportunity to impress on Thursday.

“The players know there is healthy competition for places,” she added. “We have a long term plan that we are trying to achieve. Our plan is in place, we have a process in place for Norway and we are looking forward to the challenge.

“At the same time we are trying to develop individuals as well as the team. The players have responded well so far so let’s hope that continues.”
