England 7-1 Faroe Islands
UEFA Women's U19 Championship, First Qualifying Round
27 September 2007
Lithuania The Three Lions began their European Qualification campaign in fine style by putting seven goals past the Faroe Islands. England were simply unstoppable in their quest for three points from their opening game.
Captain Ellen White and Remi Allen led the way with two goals each while Claire Rafferty also found the back of the net in the rout.
There was enough time for Brooke Chaplen and Georgia Giddings to score their first ever goals as England players.
Tracey Kevins, in charge due to Head Coach Mo Marley being in China at the Women's World Cup, was pleased with the performance.
"I am happy with the way we played but there is more to come," she said.
"They were a difficult side to break down. They put lots of bodies behind the ball but we still created chances.
"It would be difficult to say which goal I preferred. They were all well worked and included things were worked on in training."
England face hosts Lithuania on Saturday before facing the might on Spain on Tuesday.
"We have told the players that we will face a different type of opposition and a better opposition as the tournament progresses," added Kevins.
