Young Lions raring to go

Friday, 13 April, 2012

Head Coach Lois Fidler says her side are ready for Euro qualifiers.

Lois Fidler is finalising her plans for England’s UEFA European Women’s U17 Championship qualifying campaign, which begins against Iceland later today.

The Young Lions are in Belgium for this Second Qualifying Round and will open up against Iceland, followed by the host nation on Sunday and Switzerland next Wednesday.

The top placed nation in the group will advance to this summer’s Finals and Fidler says her charges are raring to go.

“We’ve done a lot of work this week, both on the pitch and in the classroom and I’m really pleased with how the preparation has gone so far,” she began.

“We’ve left no stone unturned. All the talking and preparation is done, now it’s time for game one. The players know what to do, they know what they’re jobs are and now it’s just time to get on with it.

“The players are fully focused on Iceland, but they know what is at stake if they get through this group. A place at a European Finals could really stand them in good stead for their future careers.”
