Euro qualifier ends in defeat for Lois Fidler's young side.
England slipped to a 2-0 defeat in their opening Second Round Qualifier for this summer’s European Women’s U17 Championship Finals.
A goal apiece from substitutes Gudmunda Brynja Oladóttir and Elin Metta Jensen handed victory to Iceland in Jaworzno, Poland.
Oladóttir was introduced at half-time and she took just five minutes to make an impact, firing Thorlákur Arnason’s side into the lead. The score remained 1-0 until Jensen sealed the win in added time.
Lois Fidler’s Young Lions now need a more positive result against Sweden on Monday night to keep alive their hopes of making it through to this summer’s Finals.
