England begin Euro qualifiers with 4-1 win over Israel.
A Katie Zelem brace helped guide England to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Israel in their opening UEFA European Women’s U17 Championship qualifier.
The Manchester United midfielder opened the scoring after 23 minutes but Soffer Fleitman equalised for the visitors just after the half-an-hour mark.
Aston Villa forward Olivia Fergusson reasserted England’s authority just before the break and Zelem added a third early in the second half. The victory was completed by captain Paige Williams in the 55th minute.
England’s second match is against the host nation, Northern Ireland, in Dungannon, County Tyrone, on Thursday evening and they complete their First Qualifying Round campaign against Finland on Sunday.
