Germany 7-0 England
Women's U15 International Match

Wormatia Stadion, Worms
On their first overseas tour, the England Women's U15 team line-up included a number of debutants and it was always going to be difficult test against a more experienced German team. However, the result could easily have been very different.
England started a little nervously but settled into the game. An early booking for Aoife Mannion, for charging a free-kick, set the tone - it was going to be tough and very little would go England's way.
England created a few openings in the first half, however, Beth Mead, showing her pace upfront, was caught offside on a number of occasions - although there were several contentious decisions.
Germany took the lead on 23 minutes with their only real attempt on goal until that point. A long ball forward caught the keeper out and the German forward capitalised by lobbing into the open net.
A shell shocked England attempted to regroup but were dealt another blow by the referee who gave a penalty on 39 minutes, which was converted. Within a minute, Germany had made it 3-0. The half-time score did not reflect the play.
England once again tried to settle in the second half but were knocked back by Germany scoring in the 52nd minute to make 4-0. Then two goals in the 66th minute really hammered the result home. A final goal on 74 minutes made it 7-0.
The scoreline tells the story of a real lesson in football from the Germans, but this is not a true reflection. A little good fortune in the right direction in the first half could have left room for a more competitive final score.
