Next month the England Women’s team will get their Euro 2013 qualifying campaign underway with a double-header against Serbia and Slovenia.

They will take on Serbia in Belgrade on Saturday 17 September before entertaining Slovenia at Swindon Town’s County Ground five days later.

It will be the first time Hope Powell’s side have been in action since their World Cup quarter final defeat to France in July, and the Slovenia game represents the first match on home soil since the win over Sweden at Oxford United’s Kassam Stadium in May.

England reached the Final of Euro 2009 in Finland where they were beaten by perennial champions Germany. And following a short break after the World Cup, National Coach Hope Powell is all set for another qualification campaign.

“We’ve all had some time to reflect on the World Cup, the players have gone back to their clubs and now we’re ready to go again,” she said.

“Both Serbia and Slovenia are fairly unknown to us at this level, but we’ve been doing our homework and we should expect two tough games.”

The England Women’s team were last in Swindon in July 2009 when they beat Denmark 1-0 in a friendly.

“We are delighted to welcome the England Women’s team back to The County Ground for their forthcoming match against Slovenia,” said Nick Watkins, Swindon Town’s Chief Executive.

“Hopefully the fixture will prove to be a winning one for England - watched by fans, families and teams from Wiltshire and beyond.”

Powell will name her squad for the double-header on Wednesday 24 August.
