England Women's National Coach Hope Powell delighted with Cyprus Cup Final win
Hope Powell felt England Women were deserved winners of the Cyprus Cup on Wednesday.
A stunning volley from Rachel Yankey was enough to beat Canada in the Final in Nicosia to cap off a good trip of Euro preparation for Powell and her squad.
And the National Coach was pleased with the way her side stuck to the game plan set out for them against a physical and established Canadian team.
She told FATV: "It was a hard fought contest and I thought the girls executed the game plan very well.
"I think we were the better side but it will be interesting to watch the game back again just to see how well we did.
"But I think, overall, we topped it."
England will face Canada again next month, when the nations meet in Rotherham for another warm-up game ahead of this summer's Euro Finals in Sweden.
And Powell expects another tough test from the Canucks at the New York Stadium, but knows her squad can take heart from this result.
Powell added: "It's a real confidence boost with the manner in which we won the game.
"It showed that physically we can compete and more importantly, we can create chances and obviously come out on top.
"It gives us something we can build on, we play Canada again in April and that will be another good test for us."
