David Bernstein hails "inspirational" Faye White upon her retirement announcement
FA Chairman David Bernstein has called Faye White “an inspiration to the next generation.”
Bernstein’s comments come in the wake of White’s announcement that she is retiring from football.
The former England Women’s captain played 90 times for her country over 14 years, donning the armband at four major tournaments.
Bernstein said: “I must congratulate Faye on a superb career for club and country.
“Her significant contribution to women’s football cannot be underestimated and she fully deserved every one of her 90 caps for England, many of which were as captain.
“I wish her all the best for whatever she chooses to do in future.
“Having achieved so much at the highest levels of the game, I am certain she will remain an inspiration to the next generation.
“As such, I am delighted she has already pledged her valuable support to promoting The FA’s wider grassroots work and the growth of the women’s game as part of our 150th anniversary celebrations.”
