Will there be a new name on the England Women's Player of the Year trophy?

Voting for this year's England Women's Player of the Year is in full swing, but who will take Ellen White's crown or will the Arsenal striker retain her title?

White is one of ten players on the shortlist for this season's prize, which will be presented at the inaugural FA England Awards at St. George's Park in February.

She is certainly up against some tough competition this year, with a number of Hope Powell's players standing out as they secured qualification for the 2013 UEFA European Women's Championship.

White bagged one goal in her eight appearances this year, while Jill Scott top-scored in 2012 with four.

Steph Houghton, one of Team GB's star players at the London Olympic Games, is also in the running after playing in all nine matches for England and netting three times.

White, topped the poll here on TheFA.com last time around and was delighted to receive the plaudits of the fans.

“It makes it more special that it’s voted for by the fans," beamed White when she collected the award. "I’m really thankful they have given me this award. It’s overwhelming really.”

Much like the winner of the men’s award last year, Scott Parker, White really cemented her place in the England team in 2011.

“It was a massive year for me because I got the chance to prove myself on the international stage,” reflected White.

“I sort of broke into the team properly at the beginning of last year in Cyprus. But to be selected for the World Cup squad was the pinnacle, and to get minutes on the pitch and to start games in Germany - it was a whirlwind of a year, one that I’ll never forget and winning this award just tops it off.”
