Fara Williams added more caps to her considerable tally in 2011 and ended the year just two appearances short of the milestone of 100 caps.

She will be hoping to reach that during 2012, but can also look back on 2011 with a great deal of pride as she continued to be an important player for England and featured, and scored, in the World Cup in Germany.

Her header against Mexico in England's first game in Germany proved to be her only strike of the year but it helped Hope Powell's side to a 1-1 draw in the group stage from which they progressed.

With a fine range of passing and good ability from set-pieces, she is one of the players that Powell and team-mates alike look to for creativity and that will no doubt continue in the new year, with Williams no doubt set to be one of the driving forces behind the European Championship qualifiers.
