Despite having made her
England debut in 2010, this year has really been the breakthrough for Yorkshire-born Ellen White, who has become a regular in Hope Powell's squad and will hope to remain so during 2012.
White didn't take long to get her first goal of the year, as she netted
against Italy in the first game of 2011 during the Cyprus Cup as Powell's side began what was going to be a busy year.
Her next goal came on something of a bigger stage though, as she fulfilled a childhood dream by scoring
at the World Cup Finals in Germany with a well worked strike against eventual champions Japan to help England top their group and progress to the knock-out stages.
That form continued into the new campaign and she got her third goal of the year in the
European Championship qualifying victory against Slovenia in Swindon before rounding off 2011 with another goal in the
win over Serbia at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster.
Domestically, White is an important player for The FA WSL champions Arsenal and played a big part in their continued success this year.
