Arsenal midfielder Katie Chapman returned to the international scene with a double goal salute to her two young children as England trounced South Africa 6-0 in Thursday’s opening group game of the Cyprus Cup tournament.

Eight months after giving birth to her second child, Riley, Chapman celebrated her comeback to the national team with two goals – one for each child.

“It was great to play for England again,” said second half substitute Chapman, who last pulled on The Three Lions back in October 2007.

"To get two goals was a fantastic bonus," she added.

“I came back to international football after having (older son) Harvey and wanted to do the same after Riley.

"I had to see how my body was, but my training went well and then after coming back for Arsenal I was involved in the England training camp at La Manga.

“On Thursday I felt a bit nervous before I went on as sub, but I was fine once I got going and scoring two goals was a real confidence booster.”

Chapman and here England team mates take on France on Saturday in their second match of the Cyprus Cup in Larnaca.
