National Women's Coach Hope Powell and several players attended the 15th Annual Sunday Times Sports Women of the Year Awards on Wednesday 4th December.
The England team had been shortlisted in the prestigious Team of the Year category and Mo Marley, the Everton player and England Under-19 coach, was nominated for Coach of the Year.
England were beaten to the Team of the Year award by the Great Britain curling team, who won a gold medal earlier this year. The Team of the Year Award was voted for by the readers of the Sunday Times.
Mo Marley was pipped to her award by a woman who had devoted her life to coaching swimmers.
The Awards ceremony was held at the InterContinental Hotel in Mayfair, London, with over 400 guests attending including Sir Geoff Hurst and the Minister for Culture, Media and Sport Tessa Jowell.
The flagship award for Sports Woman of the Year went to the athlete Paula Radcliffe, beating off the showjumper Pippa Funnell and Rhona Martin - captain of the Great Britain curling team.
Several figures from the footballing world were nominated for awards last year, with Arsenal coming close in the Team of the Year category for their treble victory and Hope Powell OBE was shortlisted for the Coach of the Year honour.
The Awards will be televised on Sky Sports 2 on Thursday 5th December at 7.00pm.
