Former Switzerland coach gives his thoughts on Group G.

Roy Hodgson will not be offering Fabio Capello advice on Swiss football but believes his old side are in excellent form heading into the World Cup and Euro 2012 qualifying.

The teams were drawn against each other in Poland on Sunday morning alongside Bulgaria, Wales and Montenegro in Euro 2012 Qualifying Group G.

Hodgson knows what it takes to guide Switzerland to major championships, having successfully qualified for World Cup 1994 and Euro 1996 when he was their manager between 1992 and 1995.

Now managing Premier League side Fulham, Hodgson watched with interest as Ottmar Hitzfeld’s side produced some fine displays in qualifying for this summer’s World Cup in South Africa.

He said: “I wouldn’t try to give England advice, but Switzerland had a very good campaign in qualifying for the World Cup.

“It would be more impressive if they qualified this time round because they are up against England and Bulgaria are also a very tough not to crack with good players.

“Switzerland have some high profile players and guys like Valon Behrami and Phllippe Senderos play in the Premier League every week.

“I think England are the best team although there are no easy groups.”
