• Maradona, red card, Argentina

93 Days To Go

Argentina in the record books for all the wrong reasons.

Most cautions and sendings off in World Cup history; it’s a dubious honour but someone’s got to have it. And rather than spread the ‘accolades’ around, Argentina have nobly claimed both.

In 65 World Cup matches the South Americans have picked up 93 yellow cards and 10 red cards, the most of any nation.

We wouldn't like to imply this suggests anything about their style of play or level of gamesmanship but as Rafa Benitez famously said: "We need to know that I am talking about facts, not my impression. You can analyse the facts and come to your own decision and ideas."
