World Cup Draw Screening
Trafalgar Square
5–7pm, Friday 4 December 2009 On Friday evening before the 2010 FIFA World Cup draw, Trafalgar Square will be jumping to the sound of the ‘Diski’ beat.
People from across the country will come together to set a record for the largest number of people performing the Diski dance, which takes its inspiration from Diski Football - a unique and flamboyant football style.
Then, from around 5.15pm, fans will get the chance to watch the World Cup draw on big screens in Trafalgar Square, to determine who plays who in South Africa next summer, with England in pot one as one of the eight seeded nations.
The rhythmic, celebratory Diski dance has already become the definitive boogie of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. To learn the Diski Dance, you can check out the video on
YouTube.
South African Tourism will bring together dancers from across the country to perform the Diski dance, led by professional dancers. Everyone is welcome to join in, feel the rhythm and be part of the event.
Lebo Mokhesi, UK Country Manager, South African Tourism said: “It’s time to come together, feel the rhythm and learn how to celebrate South African style ahead of next year’s World Cup.
"We’d like to invite everyone to come to Trafalgar Square on 4 December and help us start the party.”
