Fabio Capello has outlined exactly what he wants to see, and what he does not want to see when England take on Spain in the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium tonight.
Capello has told his players he wants them to take to the field with confidence, but without fear as they meet European Champions Spain.
"Over the next year I want to see the confidence and the spirit of the team, the spirit of England, and we have to play against all the teams in the world convinced that we can win," Capello said.
"We want to see players without fear and with confidence. This is a very important step for me."
Having not had the chance to work directly with his players since the victory in Germany three months ago, Capello is also keen to recover the strong mentality as England prepare for the World Cup qualifier with Ukraine in April.
"We won three months ago, not last week," Capello said. "For this reason we must recover the spirit of the group, recover the mentality and a lot of important things we had in November.
"For this reason it's a very important test for me to understand where we are now and prepare for the most important game against Ukraine at Wembley. This is very important."
