Historic discussion between coaches kicks-off meeting of global sports leaders.
England Manager Fabio Capello will sit down with fellow national coaches Andy Flower and Martin Johnson next month in a historic meeting in London.
Economist Conferences, in association with the National Football League (NFL), is staging the event to open the third annual Global Sport Summit at the Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel in London on Friday October 23, 2009.
The Global Sport Summit: Achieving Success against the Odds will feature many of the most influential figures in world sport and will be staged two days before the NFL regular-season game at Wembley Stadium between the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The unique discussion between the heads of England’s three major national teams will also be joined by NFL coaching legend Mike Holmgren, Super Bowl-winning coach of the Green Bay Packers.
“I’m sure it will be interesting to discuss the different management challenges Martin and Andy face in rugby and cricket and I am looking forward to sitting down with them,” said Capello.
Johnson added: “It’s always interesting to hear how other sports work with elite athletes and it will be a good opportunity to exchange ideas and views with the other coaches on the day, including Mike Holmgren who has an excellent reputation within the NFL.”
Other participants during the day include HRH Princess Anne, who will introduce and participate in a panel looking at sport’s challenge in reaching out to new fans across the world whilst former world heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis will take part in a discussion on the power of sport as a force for good.
