Few players have made a more instantaneous impact on the international scene than Shaun Wright-Phillips, and 2007 will be viewed as the year when the Chelsea winger began to build on his memorable debut.
The former Manchester City star was handed his first cap by Sven-Goran Eriksson back in August 2004 and took just 20 minutes to score his first goal in a 3-0 friendly win against Ukraine at St James' Park.
A loss of form and the continued excellence of David Beckham meant opportunities were few and far between until Beckham's transfer from Real Madrid to MLS side LA Galaxy.
A brace of smartly taken goals in the convincing home victories against Israel and Estonia caught the eye, as did his potent partnership with emerging right-back Micah Richards.
The two combined with devastating effect as an attacking threat, whilst the diligence of the Chelsea man meant he was often seen covering and plugging holes at the back as the adventurous Richards embarked on his trademark surges up field.
