Fabio Capello's debut match with Switzerland on Wednesday will be England's 14th Wembley fixture in the month of February.

The pick of England's eight wins was a 2-0 success against Michel Platini's France in 1992. The visitors hadn't lost in the previous 19 internationals, but Alan Shearer netted on his debut in a brilliant performance by Graham Taylor's side.

England edged West Germany with Nobby Stiles' close-range effort in 1966, with the teams destined to meet again at the same stadium five months later in the World Cup Final.

England's 2-0 friendly win against Cameroon in 1991, seven months after their exciting World Cup quarter final in Naples, was something of a culture shock for the African visitors. The temperature plummeted to minus 12 centigrade!

David Platt scored four - and missed a penalty - as San Marino were beaten 6-0 in 1993. A brave Bobby Moore was commentating for radio in the last few days of his life.

There were four February defeats. A Cruyff-inspired Holland triumphed 2-0 in 1977, Zola's goal clinched a World Cup qualifier in 1997, Michael Owen made his debut at 18 in a 2-0 defeat to Chile and World Champions France won 2-0 in 1999.

Capello isn't the first England Manager to start against Switzerland.

Ron Greenwood's first match, back in 1977, was also a Wembley friendly with the Swiss. It finished goalless.
