Rio Ferdinand has likened England's new start under Fabio Capello to the first day at a new school.

The Manchester United defender likened England's first training session under the Italian as a similar experience to arriving at his first day at secondary school.

"We had a session that went very well and was very enjoyable," said Ferdinand.

"The only way I can explain it is it was like going to a new school.

"You're intrigued, you're excited and you want to go out there and see what ideas and methods the new manager has got and how he has become so successful.

"We're all like school kids trying to suck up as much information as we can in an effort to make us into a successful team."
