England Manager Fabio Capello hailed England's victory over the USA as 'a step forward' following his side's final game at Wembley this season.

The Italian, who has now won both of his home games since taking charge, was particularly happy with his side's latest showing and feels the team are moving in the right direction.

"I am very happy with the performance and I thought we played very well," said Capello.

"The first 15 minutes were difficult as the USA played well and pressed us but we played like we have in training and I was very happy with it. It's another step forward.

"I am very happy. I saw on the pitch what I asked the players to do before the game.

"All the players played well. I think it was a good performance.

I'm happy for Steven Gerrard because he played very well in a new position and Wayne Rooney played well too.

"Today, I saw the same performance that I have seen in training, the intensity and fire. We tried to win back the ball in the tackle and did that a lot.

"But this is only a step forward and now we have to move on."
