Theo Walcott was relieved to have helped get England's World Cup qualification campaign off to a winning start and now hopes to figure on Wednesday against Croatia.

Walcott made his first competitive start in an England shirt as the Three Lions opened up with a 2-0 win over Andorra thanks to a Joe Cole brace in Barcelona.

But the 19-year-old Arsenal starlet caught the eye with an impressive performance on the right-flank, and he is now desperate to figure in Zagreb in midweek.

"We got the result we wanted," he admitted.

"It was all about wining today, it doesn't matter how we play as long as we top the group and get to the World Cup finals.

"It wasn't easy to play against them and it's not always easy when a new team plays together, but we got the result tonight.

"I put myself about tonight but I don't expect to start on Wednesday.
I'll just train hard like I have been doing and we'll see what the manager does."
