Becks back for treatment

Captain David Beckham does not expect his back to cause him any problems at next year's World Cup.

England's inspirational captain David Beckham does not expect his back injury to cause him problems at next year's World Cup.

David has been struggling with back problems, highlighted most recently on Wednesday when he did not finish Real Madrid's Champions League tie with Lyon, substituted after 79 minutes when the pain became too much.

"I had an anti-inflammatory the day before the game and it calmed it down," David told The Sun newspaper.

"The treatment I am having is fine and it’s getting me into games. I suppose the way I kick the ball means I am always going to have problems. It just needs looking after by the doctors and the physios and then it won’t be a problem," he added.

The Galactico, whose 2002 World Cup was hampered by a broken metatarsal in the lead up to Japan, is hoping his back problem will have cleared up before next summer's trip to Germany.

Real are due to travel to Real Sociedad on Sunday but David insisted he will not pull out of club games in an attempt to preserve himself.
