Wes Brown is trying to focus on United's season and not on his growing chances of making it into Sven's Euro 2004 squad.
Though Manchester United defender Wes Brown is currently in good form for his club, he is focusing on United's season and not on his chances of making it into Sven's Euro 2004 squad.
Brown's chances of establishing himself in the England set-up have been severly hampered by a series of injuries which has seen him win just seven caps since making his debut away to Hungary in 1999.
After going through a patchy spell of form earlier in the year, Brown, who was part of Sven's World Cup squad two years ago, is starting to get back to his very best.
Despite this, rather than dream of a Portuguese summer, Brown is just trying to make sure that United finish the season as strongly as possible.
"I'm trying not to think about Euro 2004 but, of course, to be picked would be great for me," the 24-year-old said.
"I'm aware that two good games do not get you there but I'm going to work as hard as I can and see what happens.
"To win an FA Cup final and then go to Portugal this summer would be great for me. It would definitely cap my season."
There is certainly an opportunity for Brown to make it into Sven-Goran Eriksson's Euro 2004 squad, which is named here on TheFA.com on 17 May.
The race is on to take-up one of Sven's defensive places and Brown's Manchester United teammate Mikael Silvestre is backing his team-mate.
"When you look at all the defenders in the English game, then Wes would be the one who has to go to the European finals," said the Frenchman
"I'm very confident that he will go. It was never going to be easy for him to come back from that knee injury but he's young and he's now back to his best."
