England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has revealed that he's been keeping a constant eye on captain David Beckham's fine early season form for Real Madrid...
Sven has been glues to his TV when Real have been on and he admitted: "I saw the two games he played, the Super Cup and the league game, on TV. He is playing very well. We hope he's coming back fit tomorrow - we need him."
Meanwhile, Sven has also been impressed with the starts that James Beattie and Wayne Rooney have made to their respective seasons.
Sven saw both players in goalscoring action for their clubs last week and is clearly confident about the form they take into this double-header.
Of Beattie, who scored the winner against Manchester United on Sunday, Eriksson said: "He deserves to be in the squad. He scored a lot of goals last season and he's started again this season.
"If you have a big goalscorer it is very important and we have few of them."
Eriksson has also been encouraged by Wayne Rooney's return to full fitness after he missed out on the Croatia match.
"I saw him twice this season," he said. "I think he's coming better and better fitness wise. The first game I saw against Arsenal he was not fit at all. Now he seems okay which is good for us."
