Jack Rodwell wants to banish the pain of an injury ravaged time Everton with success with England U-21s.
The 20-year-old is one of the country's most promising young talents and wants to show the continent that in Denmark as Stuart Pearce's side continues to grow in confidence.
"I have had injuries that have halted my career but that is part and parcel of being a footballer you just have to bounce back and remain focused. It's about the future now, not about the past," Rodwell said.
"The Spain game raised our spirits even though we came in after a little bit down because we didn't get the win. Spain dominated a lot of possession but we still felt we could have got a win from the game and I think that shows the spirit in the squad.
"As the game went on we grew in spirit and to get the goal in the 88th minute was just an honour. All of us were proud of that and we are confident."
Rodwell has not been informed if he will start against Ukraine and such is the strength in depth that none of the squad are assured of a place but whoever does not make the starting line-up will still have an impact to make as the team enjoy each others company on and off the pitch.
"It's not for me to say if I should start," he admits. "This is a hell of a good squad and there is competition everywhere and the players that are not involved will support those that are playing.
"The team spirit is good, we have games rooms and we all hang out with each other."
