Tottenham Hotspur defender Adam Smith, who is currently on loan at MK Dons, has joined up with the England Under-21s squad in Barnsley.
The Young Lions take on Israel at Oakwell on Monday night, and after impressing Stuart Pearce at the U20s World Cup for England last month, Smith has been handed an opportunity to step up.
Meanwhile, Liverpool's Jordan Henderson, who scored in the 6-0 win over Azerbaijan at Watford on Thursday night, and Chelsea's Josh McEachran both return to their clubs. Henderson was given the opportunity to go back to Liverpool to prepare for their game next week against Stoke, while McEachran's departure from the squad is a precautionary measure after picking up a slight hamstring niggle.
But for Smith, who played in the Dons 3-1 win at Carlisle on Saturday, the call up represents a chance to make his debut for the Under-21s, having collected caps at U16s, U17s, U19s and U20s level.
Most recently, Adam figured in all four of England's games at the U20s World Cup in Colombia, where they kept three clean sheets in four games.
On Sunday morning the 20-year-old trained at Oakwell with his new Under-21s team-mates, two of whom - Jack Butland and Nathan Baker - also played for the U20s in Colombia.
