Stuart Pearce names his Under-21s squad for games against Romania and Austria
Stuart Pearce has selected a 28-man squad for next week's England Under-21s double-header.
The games against
Romania at Wycombe on 21 March and
Austria at Brighton on 25 March represent his final opportunity to assess his charges ahead of this summer's European Championship in Israel.
And the team will be keen to not only impress the Coach, but also extend their record-breaking seven-game winning streak.
Goalkeeper Jack Butland is back in the Under-21s squad along with defenders Ryan Bennett, Steven Caulker and Danny Rose.
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Tom Carroll also makes a return to Pearce's side with fellow Spurs man Andros Townsend, who is currently on loan at QPR.
Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling missed last month's game against Sweden when England won 4-0, so he once again joins fellow Reds Jordan Henderson, Jonjo Shelvey, Andre Wisdom and Wolves loanee Jack Robinson at St. George's Park next week.
Forwards Nathan Delfouneso and Marvin Sordell are back in for the first time since the Euro 2013 play-off with Serbia in October.
"We are now moving into our final preparations for what we hope will be a prosperous summer at the European Championship in Israel," Pearce told TheFA.com.
"These games against Romania and Austria are our last before I have to name my 23-man squad for June.
"Next week is an important opportunity for the players to impress as they look to secure a seat on the plane."
He added: "I must say, I have been very impressed with all those who have been in the squad and it’s pleasing for me to see just how much they want to be involved and are hungry for success."
Tickets are available for the games from just £5 for kids and £10 for adults, with group and charter standard discounts also on offer.
