England Under-21s midfielder says he feels stronger since his return from injury

England Under-21s midfielder Jack Rodwell says there is more to come from him after he put in a fine display for Manchester City on Sunday.

Hamstring injuries have kept the 21-year-old out of action for both club and country for much of the season, but he impressed in the 2-0 win over Chelsea.

It was only his third start since joining City from Everton last summer, but he says he is now injury-free and keen to build on his latest performance.

And having played at the two previous European Championship Finals for England’s Under-21s in 2009 and 2011, Rodwell will no doubt be keen to be involved when Stuart Pearce and his side travel to Israel in June.

"My last start was September. I've not really had a lot of opportunities,” said Rodwell, who featured for the young Lions in just three of their ten Euro 2013 qualifying matches.

“I've had a lot of injuries. I'm still young, so I'm still maturing bodily.

"I was probably fresh because I haven't played. I've been training really hard and I feel stronger than I was before."

He added: "I feel as though the fans have seen a little bit more of me (against Chelsea) but there's still a lot more to come in my opinion."

England Under-21s have two games on home soil in March as they put their finishing touches on their preparation for Euro 2013.

They take on Romania at Wycombe Wanderers on Thursday 21 March (ticket details) before meeting Austria at Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday 25 March (ticket details).
