Under-21s to face Demark and Iceland ahead of Euro Finals.
England Under-21s have announced two more friendly fixtures in the build-up to their UEFA European Championship Finals appearance in Denmark this summer, taking on the Danes and Iceland in a March double header.
Stuart Pearce’s side are already playing Italy in Empoli in February - a match you can see here live on FATV - and have now added these two extra European opponents as preparations for the Finals begin to crystallise.
The Young Lions will meet Denmark in one of the four host cities for this summer’s tournament, which will act as perfect preparation for when they travel back there in June.
The match will take place on Thursday 24 March, with the venue to be confirmed shortly.
The Under-21s will then return to England to face Iceland at Preston North End on Monday 28 March.
Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children and are available from the ticket office at Deepdale, in person, over the phone on 0844 856 1966 and online at www.mypne.com.
“After Italy in February this is another chance for us to assess the squad ahead of the final pick in the summer," said England Coach Stuart Pearce.
“We’ll use the games wisely and given the emerging talent we have across our development teams, there’s every chance we’ll take a look at some fresh faces, who themselves will have the opportunity to impress and maybe even stake a claim for a place in the final squad.
“The fact we’ll be playing two of the qualified nations for this summer’s Championship also means we get an early chance to assess the calibre of the opposition we might be facing.”
The Under-21s have long been blessed with magnificent support from England fans as they tour the nation, and Pearce is hoping for more of the same at Preston.
Said Pearce: “We hope to see another full house at Preston on the night, and it’ll be a great chance for the fans to see some emerging talent.
“We’re always grateful of the support and, for the players, there’s nothing better than stepping out into a great atmosphere in front of a full house.”
